NORI, PORPHYRA UMBILICALIS

The Nori is the most known seaweed more to elaborate the Sushi.It has been cultivated in Japan and Korea for centuries.Nowadays it is also farmed in Europe or in China ....The Nori (Porphyra umbilical) has a reddish , purple coloration which becomes blackish when drying and tends to green color when cooked.

The Nori alga is very rich in vitamins, proteins, minerals and betacarotene (provitamin A).
It enable the diminution of the cholesterol since it facilitates the elimination of fats in blood as well  as the elimination of heavy metals.

Bbesides to be used in sheet for sushis you can find  nori flakes  and use it even not cooked on rice - one teaspoon - and sprinkle over rice , salads or soup.
